Freightliner Classic XL Truck

The Freightliner FLD 120 Classic XL is a truck launched by the HQTM team and is currently the most popular vehicle in the Midtown Madness 2 eXtreme. Over 50,000 downloads since its release on 13 April 2004 [1]. It has a trailer that uses a similar system to the American LaFrance Fire Truck (except that its wheels don't turn when you steer the vehicle) and is surprisingly one of the few custom semi-trailers available.

Genuine Freightliner FLD fleet

In 1942, Freightliner Trucks launched and built some of the most famous trucks in the United States. In 1951, Freightliner began selling trucks through White Motor Company, but after the success of the 1960s, WMC folded in the early 1970s and in 1974 Freightliner split to form its own private company.

In 1981 the company joined the Daimler-Chrysler group and sold branded Mercedes-Benz vehicles. Unfortunately, these were not popular, so in the 1990s Freightliner developed its own model of medium duty vehicles. Between 1995 and 2000, the company acquired many other commercial vehicle brands. During this period, the Freightliner Century, the Freightliner FLD 120 Classic XL, the American LaFrance fire truck and the Silver Eagle fire truck were produced.

Between 2001 and 2005, Freightliner began selling brands it could not maintain, including LaFrance. In 2007, Freightliner was split into Daimler Trucks North America. Freightliner now sells heavy-duty trucks as well as the redesigned Mercedes-Benz Sprinter. They are also experimenting with batteries supplied by Tesla Motors to produce an electric vehicle in the future.
